Alongside his composing, Thomas is Senior Commissioning Editor for sheet music at Oxford University Press.

He was the editor of Music Teacher Magazine for several years, and  was head of content for the 2014 and 2015 Music Education Expo conferences.

A choral specialist, he is the Director of The Petersfield Choir. He is a regular arranger for the Novello Choral Pops series, and is responsible for the arrangements in its  volume of James Bond songs. The full list of his Novello arrangements can be found here.

His large-scale compositions include a Christmas oratorio for adult and children’s voices, The Night Before Christmas, and a concerto for euphonium and loopstation, premiered in 2014 by Philippe Schwartz. In early 2015, he produced a tuned percussion concerto for Skipton Camerata as part of the Arts Council-funded Song of the Sea That Was project.

As a writer on music, his work can be found on sinfinimusic.com and in a new music encyclopedia Music Chronologies, described by Philip Glass as ‘A great reference tool for anyone who wants to explore the history of music’.

He studied music at Oxford University and Leeds University and is a first-study singer.
