About

I am a music publishing professional with side-passions for composing and performing,

I am very proud to be the Music Publisher at HarperCollins, looking after a fantastic roster of titles and an inspirational group of writers. Great publishing lifts the author, the reader and the publisher together, and it is wonderful to be a part of this thrilling process.

I have commissioned works for major publishers including Oxford University Press,  Hal Leonard and Collins Music, working with composers and writers including John Rutter, Cecilia McDowall, Mack Wilberg, David Blackwall and Karen Marshall. I was the editor of Music Teacher Magazine for several years, and was head of content for the 2014 and 2015 Music Education Expo conferences.

I have always loved choral music and am currently Director of The Petersfield Chamber Choir. I enjoy conducting choirs and instrumental groups, and have set up an annual ‘Petersfield Carols’ event to showcase the great pool of local professional talent in East Hampshire. I have been a long-time arranger for the Novello Choral Pops series and produced the arrangements in its  volume of James Bond songs.

My large-scale compositions include a Christmas oratorio for adult and children’s voices, The Night Before Christmas, and a concerto for euphonium and loopstation, premiered in 2014 by Philippe Schwartz. In early 2015, I wrote a tuned percussion concerto for Skipton Camerata as part of the Arts Council-funded ‘Song of the Sea That Was’ project.

My own singing voice has been a slow work in progress since being a teenager. With the patient help of a good teacher, I have been able to take on professional work as a classical baritone, and have sung several times as a deputy with the choir of Chichester Cathedral.
